Statement

I am fascinated by the fleeting nature of time and the value embedded in every moment of life. Born in Huainan, China in 1999, my journey took me from Hefei to Xi’an for studies in financial engineering, and then abroad to Glasgow and London during a period of global upheaval. After moving to Stratford in 2022, I began settling into London life. In early 2023, I started volunteering at Oxfam in Covent Garden. Immersed in the heart of London’s vibrant art scene, I encountered playwrights, artists, and curators, alongside people from diverse walks of life. Observing their gestures, routines, and interactions deepened my understanding of human experience and became a lens for my artistic practice.

In 2024, I moved to Canary Wharf and began working as an auditor at EY. From this vantage point—one of London’s busiest districts—I watch professionals rushing in suits, tourists moving at their own pace, and the constant rhythms of urban life. My background in finance and auditing, attuned to market fluctuations, material flows, and patterns of change, provides a unique lens to interpret these observations, revealing impermanence, contrasts, and the subtle, often overlooked value of time.

Although I painted at an early age, life’s pressures drew me away from formal art. In London, my artistic spark reignited, and photography became my primary tool to capture ephemeral moments: a passing glance, a city street, a changing building, or the flow of light itself. Photography allows me to record both immediate micro-moments and broader temporal rhythms, bridging personal reflection with the world around me. My work reflects not only the scarcity of time for ourselves, but also the limited moments we share with family, friends, and loved ones—the overlapping parts of our lives that shape the meaning of our existence.

Infinity coincides with these ideas. Through photography, I explore both the fleeting moments of life and the enduring rhythms beyond individual experience. Time is precious. Every moment matters.

Guest: “Like a mayfly in the universe, a single grain in the vast sea—mourning the brevity of life, envying the endless river; wishing to drift with immortals, embrace the moon, yet knowing it cannot be seized, leaving only echoes in the wind.”

Su: “Through the lens of change, even heaven and earth cannot be grasped in an instant; through the lens of constancy, all things and I are infinite—why envy?”

(Red Cliff Rhapsody - Su Shi)
