Yang Yang (b. 1999) is a conceptual photographer and visual artist based in London. He studied Financial Engineering in China and received an MSc in Financial Risk Management from the University of Glasgow, with his later experience in auditing continuing to inform the structured and analytical way he approaches image-making. Working across photography and installation, he uses ordinary materials, familiar environments and constructed situations to examine how individuals are situated within systems of work, relationships and time. In Yang’s work, he is interested in the invisible structures that quietly organise behaviour, perception and everyday experience. Through framing, repetition, light, shadow and material transformation, intangible conditions such as routine, pressure, intimacy, memory and duration are made perceptible, while familiar objects and spaces are shifted away from their ordinary functions. His practice has been featured by China Photography Newspaper and FOTOBANG, and his works have been exhibited at Today Art Museum, Gallery 46, Asylum Chapel and Wuhan Photography Art Centre, among others.
