Soft Tension
Statement
Soft Tension brings together two horizontal photographic sequences centred on a knife and a cup with saucer. Neither object is presented in full at the outset. They enter through edges, shadows, reflections and cropped fragments before becoming briefly recognisable. The sequential format turns viewing into an act of approach: information accumulates, while certainty remains unstable.
Both objects belong to domestic rituals of nourishment and care, yet each carries a different potential. The knife can serve or wound; the cup can receive, contain or spill. Warm red light and darkened borders draw them into the same intimate atmosphere, where attraction and unease coexist.
No action takes place, but pressure remains present in the distance between objects, the incomplete view and the expectation of what might follow. The work considers intimacy as a condition shaped by proximity: as familiar forms move closer, their meanings become less secure.
